runners often speak of pain
and of course if you want that
you can have all you want
merely by pushing yourself
beyond your limits
every time you run.

it’s your choice of whether
to run to punish your self
or to experience your self

whatever you do
with your running.
you only cheat yourself
by pushing, pressing, competing.

there are no standards
and no possible victories except
the joy you are living
while dancing your run…

(i am in punishing mode way too often, but i just cannot help it.)
